Songwriting and Music Workshops

Everyone has their own style when it comes to songwriting. I've developed my personal songwriting style by beginning with music and following the emotions that music stirs in me and writing lyrics that unfold over the chords and melodies. That's not to say I don't write songs with lyrics first, but my preference is to follow the music. That way the music makes you feel the emotions which are then articulated through lyrics that tell an authentic story. In my songwriting workshops we dive into lots of different ways to create and I teach attendees how to tune into their own inner songwriter. I'll show you how to help a song reach it's potential through using rhythm and flow and by crafting your song with attention to detail and the affect each detail has on the listener. I hold regular holiday workshops for youth and all ages on the Sunshine Coast and I also offer different versions for Schools which have included writing school anthems, war crys, songs about inclusivity and harmony led by the students. It's a really fun experience watching people realise writing songs is not as hard as they might think!

I also offer Ukulele workshops and have presented beginner workshops at Woodford Folk Festival and Queensland Music Festival events and showcase workshops for Ukulele groups around SE QLD. These are great for social gatherings and a fun way to get into playing music with friends. I teach some Fijian songs such as 'Isa Lei' - the farewell song, 'Chulu Chululu' and other popular ukulele songs such as 'You are my Sunshine', 'Over the Rainbow' and many more by request.
